about

I wake up, shouts in the kitchen
Everything is blurry, so all I do is listen
Never did I repeat the words that they mentioned
Get up, through the crack, I could see my mother twitching
I looked down for a second, the noise was so loud
Screams from a woman, only heard by her child
Fist each swinging wild, now someone has to take the charge
Indeed she did start, but he rocked her jaw

Let me tell you a little story about a family from the south
No, not rednecks, hardly open their mouth
No rebel flag, doesn’t mean shit
It wasn’t gonna pay the bills, and it never helped us with rent
Mother was an alkie, Dad was abusive
Both would use me and my brother as excuses
When they fought each other, my brother became a nuisance
And no I’m not saying this to sound cruel over music
How would you react to seeing your mother being smacked
In the fact, you step in, then your father pushes you back
Looks you in the eyes, and tells you that she’s on crack
The next day at school, in a fight with a kid named Matt
I mean… was told at early age, life wasn’t gonna be like the other kids
That what the other kids get, Dad can’t afford that shit
Cause Mommy’s out of jail, and he just posted bail
I needed someone to talked to, sorry for the raw view

Mom’s long gone, father’s been here
My whole fucking family’s caused me some tears
I know I’ve caused my few over the past couple of years
I only say these things to get over my fears

“I remember I was just like you…”
You do? Cause I remember you acting a fool
Childhood in my hood, growing up wasn’t shit
Acted like a man, knowing I was only a kid
Every experience you indulged, every word you let slip
Stop the dramatizations, and just admit that you craving
“You don’t understand, and I hope you never do”
Same damn story until she turned blue
So I said it, I said it, taped it, and then I read it
Idolized it and met it, It would creep in my ears,
and yeah I let it, if it was black, I’d bet it
To try to tell me otherwise, no lie, I’d dead it
Then he spoke the truth, and I could tell in her eyes
Every word spoken before might as well been lies
Up to that point, she’s had 99 tries
So I looked her in the eyes, and said the last time was the last time
“I remember I was just like you…”
Lies from a bride sounded so true
A husband who fears there’s not enough to give
Kids worrying what there next meal is
While the wife just steals shit, tries to hide it from her hun
Husband gets mad, goes to the next room, and wakes up his son
This is the 4th time she’s went in my wallet this week
Her minds on one thing, His mind’s on a billion things

She’s thinking about the rock, he’s thinking about their wedding rings
The children just want a mom and dad to be takin’ care of things
She’s thinking about the rock, he’s thinking about their wedding rings
The children just want a mom and dad to be takin’ care of things
I use to fantasize about being on an aero plane
I use to defend my mother, and make her put it on everything
Then wouldn’t you know, everything got gone
Dad apologizes, then proceeded to make it a home
You’d both stare at me, and ask me what’s wrong
Didn’t think you’d have to ask, sorry…
I’m a little late with the song
